Residents in Chipping Sodbury will be able to access Post Offices services seven days a week after it was confirmed a new branch is set to open on the High Street.

The new Post Office will open in September in the existing Spar store - and plans have been welcomed by residents after the previous branch, located in the Cotswold Vintners store, closed in November 2019.

The new branch will replace the existing temporary mobile service that was introduced in 2020 and visits the High Street twice a week.

Provisional opening hours for the new Post Office suggest the service will be available for 108 hours over a seven day week.

The new premises will also have a wide door with level access at the entrance and a hearing loop inside..

Scott Lacey, Post Office Network Provision lead, said: “We are delighted to soon be restoring a permanent Post Office to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. The opening hours will make it convenient for customers to visit.

"We are keen to restore this full-time branch to the area as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans."

MP Luke Hall said “I am so pleased to see the return of a permanent Local Post office in our community. I know that many of residents rely on these services and this is a huge boost for local businesses and our High Street’s economy.”

Sodbury town councillor Becky Romaine added, “We have continued to keep in close touch with the Post Office and are delighted our town has this much-needed service back where it belongs, along our High Street. This is brilliant news for the Sodbury community.”

Any residents who have comments or thoughts about the access into the premises, and also access inside the premises, can submit their view to a consultation which closes on September 2 2022, which will be taken into consideration as the Post Office and Spar finalise the plans.

For more information, and to submit views, people should visit the Consultation Hub via postofficeviews.co.uk and use the search function with the unique branch code 459511.
The proposed opening hours of the new branch will be Monday – Saturday 7am – 10.30pm; Sunday: 8am – 10.30pm.

This will mean that the Post Office will be open throughout the store’s opening hours.
