Police were called after a worried member of the public saw a man being bundled into the boot of a car... but it turned out to just be a manakin.

On Wednesday Gloucestershire Police carried out urgent enquiries and put out an appeal for information following the incident on the A48 in Blakeney.

Following this appeal, several people came forward to say they had also seen this incident, which occurred close to the Manchester House Bed and Breakfast at around 9.15am, and that some had believed it was a manikin.

Police also received a call from a company which designs and creates realistic training manikins, and that it was a water rescue manikin which was being loaded into a car.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: "Officers would like to thank the caller who reported the incident which was a call made with good intent, and for those who came forward with information following the appeal."
