A SCHOOLBOY'S dream came true when he met his Premier League footballing heroes at the weekend.

Owen Clarke, 11, from Yate, was chosen to be the mascot for Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski at Saturday's home game against Wolves.

And a delighted Owen - who met England captain Harry Kane - said it was the best day of his life.

“Meeting all the players, especially Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski was amazing,” said the dedicated Spurs fan, who walked out onto the pitch in front of more than 60,000 spectators.

“It was such a good experience and I walked out onto the pitch with Kulusevski.

“Antonio Conte, the head coach of Tottenham, came out to shake my hand too.”

Owen was chosen out of more than 10,000 other children to be a mascot at the game at the stadium in north London.

Owen then watched Tottenham win against Wolves 1-0 with his mum Mel, dad Ollie and five-year-old sister Robyn.

His mum Mel said that his ‘dreams’ have come true.

“It was truly a very special day for Owen,” she said.

“He is over the moon that he was able to meet his idols.

“He met all the players who signed his shirt, he was given a full Tottenham kit and walked out onto the pitch with them.

“Owen’s dream came true, he loves Spurs and has been a fan since his a baby.”

Owen starts at Brimsham Green in September and is eager to join the school football team.

He currently plays for two teams - St Nicholas Football Club in Chipping Sodbury and Wotton Rovers in Wotton-under-Edge.

Owen previously attended the Ridge Primary School in Yate and also played for their football team.

During the match, Harry Kane scored his 250th goal for Tottenham and now holds the Premier League record for most goals scored for a single club.

Almost 62,000 fans watched the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The club is currently fourth in the Premier League.
