Communities across the Cam, Dursley and Wotton area will remember those who have given their lives for their country this week on Armistice Day, Friday, and on Remembrance Sunday.

Here is a round-up of some of the events taking place.

Cam

St Bartholomew's Church is holding its Act of Remembrance service on Sunday at 10.50am followed by communion.

The Royal British Legion has also organised a remembrance service at Cam Hopton War Memorial followed by a parade starting at 10.30am.

Dursley

Wreaths will be laid at the war memorial at the Pavilion on the War Memorial Recreation Ground, Dursley at 11am on Friday - Armistice Day.

The annual remembrance day parade is on Sunday as follows:

2.15pm - Assemble at the bus station in May Lane

2.45pm - Parade leaves the bus station and marches via May Lane, Castle Street and Silver Street. Parade stops in Silver Street outside St James' Church, about turns and marches into Long Street.

3pm - Service starts at St James' Church

Between 3.30pm and 3.45pm - Wreath laying party assembles in front of the War Memorial Gates for Act of Remembrance.

3.45pm to 4pm - Parade reforms in Long Street and dismisses.

Wotton-under-Edge

This year’s remembrance parade on Sunday, November 13 will start from the Chipping at 10.40am.

It will then continue along Market Street, Long Street and Church Street before arriving at the war memorial in Old Town at approximately 10.50am.

The civic service will take place at the war memorial including the two minutes silence, playing of the National Anthem, and the laying of wreaths.

The parade will continue along Culverhay to St Mary’s Parish Church for the dismissal.

This will be immediately followed by a church service in St Mary’s Parish Church.
