CHRISTMAS is returning to communities in festive events in Cam and Dursley this week.
This week's festive highlights include mini-reindeer rides, Santa grottos and fun-fairs, a Victorian market and a fireworks display.
Christmas returns to Dursley
Dursley’s Christmas lights switch-on event is taking place this week on Friday (November 25).
This year’s festive event is a Victorian theme with Christmas stalls, music, a children’s fairground, a winter garden, a Santa’s grotto with a sleigh and a fireworks display.
Organised by Dursley Town Council with support from local groups including the Festive Dursley the event is a popular annual tradition.
Itr runs from 4.30pm with the lights switch on taking place at 6pm.
As part of the switch-on event taking place Parsonage Street will be closed from 2pm until 10pm.
Christmas returns to Cam
Cam’s Christmas lights are also set to be switched on at a festive family event this weekend on Saturday (November 26).
It’s the first festive celebration to be held in Cam for several years after the pandemic.
Organised by Cam Parish Council, children will be able to visit Father Christmas in his enchanting grotto in the council offices.
There will also be mini reindeer rides, a bouncy castle and a fun-fair in the car park on Noel Lee Way.
There will also be a Christmas Craft Market in Cam Memorial Hall with music, games, a treasure hunt and a memory tree for writing messages to loved-ones.
Cam’s Christmas event on Saturday, November 26 will be held from 2pm until 5pm, with the lights switch on taking place at 4.30pm.
Cam’s high street the A4135 will be closed from 1.30pm until 5pm from the junction with Manor Avenue to the roundabout at Noel Lee Way to make way for celebrations.
There will also be festive events taking place next week in Berkeley on Thursday, December 1 and in Wotton on Saturday, December 3.
