A PERSON has been banned from Gloucester city centre for a year for their behaviour.

Chanel Paris, aged 51 and of Southgate Street, Gloucester, was served with a civil anti-social behaviour injunction) at Cheltenham and Gloucester County Court last Tuesday (December 13).

It followed numerous incidents during which Paris was verbally abusive towards the City Protection Officers.

The case was brought against Paris by Solace, a joint team of officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary, Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucester City Council.

Under the order, Paris can be arrested for:

  • Engaging in conduct which causes or is capable of causing alarm or harassment or distress to any person within the city of Gloucester
  • Using or threatening to use violence at any time to any person within the city of Gloucester
  • Entering parts of Gloucester city centre.

The order is in force until December 13, 2023.

Solace officer Matt Roberts said: "Paris has caused issues in the city centre, shouting and swearing at the CPOs, often while members of the public were passing by.

"This behaviour is unacceptable. This order was sought in an effort to stop Paris from continuing in this awful manner."

Sergeant Andrew Doyle, from Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Paris has been a cause for concern in the city and, despite efforts to support and prevent repeat behaviour, has continued to cause problems for the CPOs, who provide a valuable service to the community and support the City Policing Team in the city centre.

"We work closely with our partners Project Solace and City Safe to ensure that action is taken to target individuals involved in anti-social behaviour and ensure our community feels safe."

Gloucester City safe manager Steve Lindsay said: "This injunction is welcome news following Paris having been given numerous chances.

“Several businesses were fed up with the abusive behaviour and the way in which our CPOS had been verbally abused.

"I would like to thank PC Roberts from Solace for all his hard work supporting making Gloucester a safe place to visit and work."

Anyone who witnesses Paris breaching this ASBI are asked to contact the police on 101 or the Solace team on 01452 396396.
