A NEW business has launched which is planning to become a ‘global leader’ in energy efficient home improvements.

Sustainable Systems Ltd  - a tech research company - is launching its first sister Susy.house in early spring with an app which they say aims to ‘transform’ how homeowners in South Gloucestershire and Bristol invest in their homes to save energy.

Scientists from the company have devised the app using world-first technology that they say will offer homeowners a bespoke analysis of their home efficiency and energy usage.

This would allow them to access data about their own homes including how much money they spend on energy, how much they can save, their CO2 output and ways they can adapt their homes for a greener lifestyle.

The app is also set to connect homeowners and tenants with accredited tradespeople for quotes for energy efficient upgrades, as well as information on ways to finance them.

This app comes as energy costs continue to soar.

Ofgem, the national regulator has said the energy price cap is set to rise to an annual level of £4,279 in January 2023, but bill-payers remain protected under the government’s Energy Price Guarantee (EPG).

The energy price cap level indicates how much consumers on their energy supplier’s basic tariff would pay if the EPG were not in place.

Chief technology officer Mauro Fazion said: “We plan to disrupt UK and international markets, to establish a new standard for domestic energy efficiency, and thereby support the UK economy by becoming a global leader in home improvements.”

Chief executive Bryan Charter said that with the cost of living crisis and global warming issues being the forefront of peoples mind, the app could not come at a better time.

He added: “Heating, cooling and powering domestic homes in the UK contributes to 20% of our Co2 emissions.

“We have some of the worst performing housing stock in Europe in terms of energy efficiency and it is really starting to hit people in their pockets.

“Home improvements to save money and energy can be a very complex landscape leaving people confused as to how they can save, what can be upgraded and what is affordable.

“Our app will do all of that for them.”
