David Beeley, a retired headteacher from Thornbury in South Gloucestershire has just published his second novel, ‘Secrets, Lies and Two Leg Byes.’

It is a sequel to his first critically acclaimed novel, Secrets, Lies and Rhubarb Pies’ which earned a string of five-star awards and excellent reviews.

David was deputy head at Crossways Junior school in Thornbury and headteacher of Trinity Primary school, Acton Turville and The Ridge Junior school in Yate.

The second novel is set in the fictional Derbyshire town of Newhill eight years after the end of the first. Wath Mill Allotments experience arson, theft, sabotage and near tragedy in the nearby river. Yet there is also love, deep friendship and the magical innocence of first love.

Thomas Tiler, the new young head of Newhill Primary school, is separated from his wife and tormented by secrets. Shadows deepen as he is challenged by anonymous letters, falling numbers and an upcoming inspection. Will he and the school survive?

Trinidadian Little Billy Shakespeare, Grace Bisby, Japanese Satoshi Tinton and Polish Rosangel Chlebek join forces to solve mysteries and try to win the Mullins cricket cup against all the odds.

David’s much awaited second novel is a humourous and deeply moving story with skilled imagery and believable characters. It is full of intrigue and mystery.

David has been married to Eve for over fifty years and has two daughters and three granddaughters living in Ireland. He has enjoyed writing and has an allotment of his own.
