TALENTED young performers in Dursley followed the yellow brick road and left their audiences spellbound.

Students from Rednock School recently performed 1930s classic The Wizard of Oz -  the Dursley secondary school’s first full drama production since the pandemic.

Jessica Smith played the Tinman, Ella Swain, the Scarecrow, James Carter, the Cowardly Lion and Kayti Miles as Dorothy.

Shows were performed from Thursday, March 23 to Saturday, March 25.

A spokesperson for Rednock said: “We can now officially say that our school production of The Wizard of Oz was a success!

“We are so appreciative of all help and advice we’ve had from so many people across the local community,

“It’s so lovely to see the community working together to achieve something we can all be proud of.

“We would also like to give a special thanks to our cast and crew and of course our Head of Drama, Mrs Curtis as she’s worked incredibly hard to organise and bring the show to life.

“It’s her first year with us at Rednock and to achieve such an event in her first year is an amazing achievement.”

Head of drama, Sharon Curtis said: “I would like to thank all the members of the school community who have gone over and above to support the drama department with this venture.

“For the people that have made, planned, painted, sewn, accompanied, stuck on sequins and, most importantly, offered support, I want to offer my heartfelt thanks.

“I want to thank members and groups from our local community who have helped, in many ways, to make this show happen.
