A GOLF course in Thornbury has undergone a major £400,000 refurbishment to upgrade its driving range with technology used by the game's top players.
The revamp at Thornbury Golf Centre has meant it has become among the first in the region to install pioneering TrackMan Range technology.
The new driving range boasts 23 bays with TrackMan touchscreens on the original driving range site.
It enables players to practise and receive feedback, tee it up at major venues like St Andrews and challenge friends in innovative game modes.
The centre has been making other improvements in the club, including in the Archway Room which has been transformed from a old storage facility into a pool, darts, and sports bar room.
Meanwhile, on the golf course, the club is almost halfway through a £750k irrigation project that has been split into three phases.
The first two phases are set to be completed in the spring, while phase three will take place in the autumn, and be completed by spring next year.
Tim Good, general manager of Thornbury Golf Centre, said: “We would encourage anyone in the local area to come and enjoy this new technology.
“This is a fantastic new facility that will allow advanced golfers and beginners alike to experience an array of exciting game modes that the latest TrackMan Range technology has to offer.
“We’re really excited to be able to offer one of the most advanced driving ranges in the UK to people in our region.
“Also, by continuing to make developments throughout the entire centre, we can deliver the best possible experience for members and visitors who come to Thornbury, from start to finish.
“In total, this represents more than £1 million worth of investments into the golf course and facilities at Thornbury Golf Centre for local people to use and enjoy.”
The centre features an 18-hole main course called The Marlwood Course that offers a blend of challenging holes across the rolling hills.
It also has a par-3 short course known as The Severn View Course that is aimed at beginners and approach play practice.
