A THORNBURY florist has marked the Coronation by decorating the front of her shop.

Flower shop Jolies Fleurs in St Marys Way has been completely transformed ahead of the historic weekend.

Its shop window is adorned with red, white, and blue flowers, as well as a crown arrangement made of more than 400 real flowers.

The display also features a The Prince of Wales Investiture Chair which was donated by a customer who attended the ceremony 54 years ago in 1969.

Jo Preece, the owner of the shop, put together the royal window in just two days.

She said: “I love being creative in my window displays and being surrounded by lovely flowers day in and day out is the perfect excuse!

“I have had a lot of people commenting on my window display.

“The crown has over 400 real flowers in it and took about two days to complete.

“I made up the design, but I wanted the opulent dark regal purples and deep reds to take centre stage.

"The best treat for me, because I love the story behind any floral arrangements I'm asked to do, is the Investiture chair from July 1, 1969, when our future King was crowned the Prince of Wales.

“It belongs to one of my lovely customers who was invited to the occasion as head girl of her school.”

The Prince of Wales Investiture Chair used in the display is one of 4,000 made in South Wales for the investiture of the then Prince Charles at Caernarfon Castle in 1969.
