Liam Williams, chair of Thornbury Carnival committee said: “We really do feel like we’ve managed to put together a programme which has something for everybody.

"We are trying to maximise everything we can offer within the ticket price and you can find out more by visiting the What’s On page of our website.

“With 12 hours packed full of fun and entertainment, we believe the event will continue to offer great value for money!

“Although the committee receives some small grants and attracts limited sponsorship, it’s nowhere near enough to cover the entire cost of delivering the event which is £50,000.

“Affordability and inclusivity are important to us and we work with local groups to distribute free tickets to families identified as being in need.

“Unfortunately, costs within the events industry have increased significantly so, realistically, this needs to be reflected in ticket prices as we need to at least cover the costs if we’re going to ensure the long-term sustainability of the event.

“That being said, we do feel the event will continue to offer very good value for money in comparison with many other local events.”

The event committee is also urging any local performers or groups to take part in the variety show and is asking for people to enter their vehicles in the Show ‘n’ Shine.
