A burglar who trespassed at the derelict Thornbury Health Centre building has been ordered to pay £238.

Lee Potter, aged 52, of Windcliff Crescent, Lawrence Weston, Bristol, was found guilty at Bristol Magistrates' Court on April 13.

He entered the hospital site in Eastlands Road with intent to steal earlier this year on January 13 which was contrary to the Theft Act 1968.

Potter must pay a victim services surcharge of £154 plus £85 costs - a total of £238 which must be paid in full by Tuesday, May 30.

Potter was also sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, which was suspended for a 12-month period.

The 1920s building which is known as Thornbury Health Centre was shut to patients four years ago in 2019 and had been declared as "not fit for purpose".

There have been several unsuccessful attempts to upgrade the facilities over the past 30 years.
