A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a prisoner at HMP Bristol.
Michael Harkin, 34, appeared before Bristol Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning (Friday, June 10) charged with murdering Daniel Childs, 38.
Avon and Somerset Police were called to HMP Bristol at about 9.30am on June 5 after Childs, from Telford, was pronounced dead.
Harkin, who was a prisoner at the prison, was arrested and later charged with two offences.
He is charged with murdering Childs and wounding Shane Joyce, also a prisoner, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.
The defendant was remanded into custody and will appear before Bristol Crown Court on June 12.
