A MUCH-loved school fete in Cam returned last week, with dozens of families taking advantage of the summer evening sun.

The event - known as Everfest - was organised by parent volunteers and staff from Cam Everlands Primary in the school grounds on Friday (June 23).

The evening included a tombola, a barbeque, face-painting, inflatables, a water fight, tennis skills and raised more than £1,400 for the primary.

Pupils were even allowed to throw sponges at their headteacher Dominic Knill.

Jennie O’Reilly, chair of the school association, said: “Given the cost of living challenge facing families, our aim was to create a night of affordable fun for the children, their families, friends and the wider school community to enjoy.

“Thanks to a brilliant team effort I think we achieved that.

“The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone got involved - young and old - there was something for everyone.

“Thanks to everyone who played a part in making Everfest 2023 such a brilliant success, including Tesco in Cam for their kind generosity.

“Overall, we think we raised over £1,400 for the school too, which is just incredible and such a huge bonus considering we were all so busy having fun!"

Headteacher Dominic Knill said: “So many individuals and organisations came through to generously support the school this year. It was fantastic.

“The children loved it, the school field was buzzing with energy, and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves – including those families with children joining us this coming September.

“What a wonderful way to round off our week – having fun in the sunshine together!”
