FAMILIES and councillors are celebrating the completion of new play equipment in Yate.
A new embankment slide, climbing rope and balance equipment have been installed ahead of the summer holidays in Woodchester Park by Dodington Parish Council.
The equipment, which cost £17,700, lies in the centre of the Shire Way estate.
It comes after the slide had previously been damaged beyond repair, and the revamp has given the park new life.
Project support assistant, Liz Hazelby, said: “We had a brilliant response to a consultation with residents.
"Thank you to everyone who completed our survey or emailed in.
“It is wonderful to see children enjoying the new equipment.
“We have taken all the comments we received during the consultation on board and will be looking to make further improvements to the play area in the future.
“Thank you to GB Sport and Leisure Ltd and their contractor for their project delivery and workmanship."
The last major works at the play area was to the fenced-off toddler equipment, which was upgraded four years ago in 2019.
The parish council took over the responsibility of the play area from South Gloucestershire Council in 2018.
