THOUSANDS enjoyed amazing live music over the weekend in Thornbury.
Thornbury Carnival returned with a swing on Friday (June 30) as the two-day event kicked off at Mundy Playing Fields.
Despite the wind and rain, revellers enjoyed the sunshine sounds of Panache Steel Band and bopped away to Thornbury Swing Band.
Due to the weather, a planned balloon display was not able to take place.
Instead, a number of balloonists took part in a poignant tribute, flashing their burners 25 times in memory of the young balloon pilot Peter Gregory from Gloucestershire who recently died in a tragic incident.
On Saturday (July 1) crowds returned, enjoying performances from NAPA, TMTG (and Juniors), BALPA, and McClennan Irish Dance Academy.
Also performing included various tribute acts Elton John (Absolutely Elton), Dua Lipa (Do it Like Dua) and Kylie Minogue (On a Night Like This).
The lineup continued with from local up and coming DJ KitKat and DJ Bowl as well as the headliner Hairforce 5 who performed rock favourites from the 80s.

Liam Williams, chair of Thornbury Carnival’s volunteer committee said: “It was a fantastic weekend!
“The committee worked hard all year round to organise the event but seeing so many happy faces and people enjoying themselves, made all the time and effort worthwhile.
“We really appreciated all the lovely comments and feedback we received over the weekend and afterward, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us to make the event happen!
“Next year’s event will take place over the weekend commencing Friday, July 5 so make sure you save the date!”
