A PRODUCTION of the popular play “Calendar Girls” is due to be performed in Rangeworthy later this year in support of local cancer charities.

The play, featuring members of newly formed drama group Collaborative Productions, will be shown at Rangeworthy Village Hall from September 21 to September 23.

Proceeds are going towards Blood Cancer UK as well as the Breast Cancer Unit Support Trust, which supports the Bristol Breast Care Centre at Southmead Hospital.

Written by Tim Firth, Calendar Girls tells the story of Annie, whose husband dies from leukaemia, before she teams up with her close friend, Chris, to buy a comfortable sofa for the visitors’ room at the hospital where he was treated.

They have an idea of printing a calendar to raise the funds, featuring some of the members of the Knapely branch of the Women’s Institute.

It proves to be a calendar with a difference, as each of the traditional activities would be depicted by one of the ladies discretely posing in the nude.

An organiser said: “If you would like to support these two charities by seeing this wonderful play, make sure you secure your ticket early as it is undoubtedly going to be popular.
