A WOMAN from Chipping Sodbury is celebrating after winning a major horse-riding competition over the weekend.
Verna Clifford, a member of Chipping Sodbury WI, who is blind and a keen rider, won her class at the Riding for the Disabled National Championships.
Verna: “I know many people are amazed that I horse ride being blind, but I am proof that so much is achievable with a little help.
“I owe so much to the volunteers at the Avon Riding Centre for my success!”
Verna regularly gives talks to other women institutes across the area and has even written a book about her experiences entitled, ‘Riding Blind’.
The competition was held at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire from Friday, July 14 to Sunday, July 16.
