PREPARATIONS are in full swing for St Nicholas Football Club ahead of what looks set to be another busy playing season.

Lots of work is going on behind the scenes to ensure the club is ready for the season start in September.

This follows on from club's annual tournament and festival of football held back in May, where over 250 teams and around 2000 players enjoyed a weekend of great football.

This was helped with the weather being kind, allowing the club to exceed its planned profit target.

Tournament lead Becky Morgan, who has a daughter playing in the girls under 9 section said: “Once again our tournament was a great event held at The Ridings, with teams from all over the Southwest and South Wales taking part.

"Feedback received has been great, and the tournament committee which consisted of club committee members, managers, coaches and parent helpers did a fantastic job to put on such a big event, which is probably the biggest around.

"This is such an important event for the club and all profit goes back into the club to enhance facilities and give the members the very best possible experience in their grass roots journey”.

The club has now moved on to preparing for the 2023/24 playing season.

The club has continued to grow, with over 460 members, made up of 28 teams from u6 to u18, which includes 16 boys’ teams, 11 girls teams and a Men’s team also, taking in part in 5 different local leagues.

"This won’t be an easy ask but one that we’re fully committed to as a club.

"I am really confident that we’ll be ready for when the new season starts, and I am sure our members are all really excited about getting back to playing the game they all love."

The club is also planning to celebrate the clubs 45th anniversary in 2024, with plans in place to ensure a day of celebrations for all club members, past and present.
