A ROAD closure in Cam that began earlier this week is expected to last at least eight weeks.

The closure - in place at Box Road - will be in place each day from 9am to 5.30pm from Monday, July 24 until Friday, September 15.

After the work is completed, Severn Trent say the stretch of road will then be under four-way traffic lights from Monday, September 18 until Friday, October 20.

Neighbours and residents have expressed concerns about the closure on social media.

Many have expressed concern about the impact on smaller nearby roads and accessing Cam & Dursley Railway Station.

Matt Dockrell, lead project manager at Severn Trent, said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience by our essential work on Box Road, where we’ve started a vital £250,000 reinforcement project for the area.

“This work will see us adding extra capacity to our network, making sure everyone has a reliable supply for years to come.

“To keep our teams, and others safe as we work, we will be using traffic management for the duration of the project.

“We really really appreciate the patience of the local community, who were all informed before the work started, and our teams are working hard to complete this essential project as soon as possible.”
