AN INSPIRING young girl from Thornbury has completed an amazing challenge in honour of her grandad by doing hundreds of cartwheels.

Ella Dent, aged eight, aimed to complete as many cartwheels as she could in a day as part of a fundraiser for Parkinson’s UK, yesterday, Thursday, August 10.

Ella’s grampy Chris Dent was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease more than 20 years ago and currently lives in Alexandra Way Residential Care Home.

In the end, Ella managed to complete 250 cartwheels in her back garden and also at the care home’s back garden.

Ella, who goes to St Mary's Primary School, said: “I am trying to raise money for Parkinson’s as my Grampy has it.

“I would love for my Grampy to be better and if someone could find a cure for Parkinson’s.

“I plan to do as many cartwheels as I can in one day to raise money.”

So far, £900 has already been raised for the charity.
