AN update has been issued surrounding the future of Wotton’s pharmacy.

It has been announced Wotton Family Pharmacy has taken over the running of the former LloydsPharmacy located in Long Street.

It officially reopened with new management K&L Healthcare on Monday, August 14 replacing LloydsPharmacy after they officially shut on Saturday, August 12.

Both patients and customers had previously reported an ongoing problem with stock and prescription collection over the last few months.

The new owners also run the Yate Family Pharmacy and the Dursley Family Pharmacy.

A statement released by Wotton Family Pharmacy on Facebook reads: “We are thrilled to announce that we have officially taken the reins at the former LloydsPharmacy in Wotton.

“Our dedicated team has been hard at work, not only training and integrating seamlessly but also re-dispensing the unpacked prescriptions from Lloyds.

“Our focus this week is on refining the dispensing process to ensure it's up-to-date and efficient.

“Once we've achieved this stability, get ready for a retail revamp filled with exciting new products!

“Your patience and ongoing support mean the world to us, and we're committed to being your go-to local business for years to come.”

Cllr Ken Tucker (Lib Dem, Wotton) said: “Three times since 2019 I have intervened on behalf of our communities to engage with senior management at LloydsPharmacy because of the poor service, lack of stock to fulfil prescriptions and unacceptable closures due to the unavailability of pharmacists at the Wotton pharmacy, despite the best efforts and commitment of the staff.

“They were simply let down by a nationwide conglomerate, although, as elsewhere, Covid didn’t help.

“Following restructuring of the brand and a recent take-over, the branch, along with 100s of other Lloyds pharmacies, was put up for sale.

“I am delighted that K&L Healthcare have taken over the running of this branch, adding to their other pharmacies in Yate, Dursley and Stroud.

“I have previously met Mr Kwan and Ms Lim (both registered pharmacists) to discuss the potential needs of our rural residents and clients.

“It is clear that they are both committed to providing a great service as elsewhere.

“I am pleased that Molly, Denise and Milly will be staying on to provide their excellent service as ‘front of house’ and wish Freddie and Lay best wishes for the success of their new venture in Wotton."
