A NEW campaign has been launched to encourage more people to catch buses across the Stroud district.

The Stroud & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce is supporting the national initiative Catch The Bus Month in September.

Organisers hope the campaign will raise awareness of public transport options that exist across the district and help highlight the importance of the bus network.

The initiative also highlights how travelling by bus can reduce congestion and air pollution and can help boost the local economy.

As part of the campaign, six scenic routes have been featured including Wotton, Dursley, Stroud, Stonehouse, Painswick and Nailsworth.

Tony Davey, Chair of Stroud & District Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chair of the Stroud District Tourism Partnership said: "September could be the perfect month to choose to make a journey on a bus, with different ticketing options often available and a single fare price cap of just £2.

“We are encouraging everyone to visit a town by bus that they have not been to before or one they have not visited in a while.

“We are very fortunate that many of our bus routes deliver scenic experiences across our district.

“We have selected just some that we believe are ideal for seeing our vibrant towns and stunning countryside.

“With the travelling height achieved on a bus, you can experience an amazing new perspective not available when travelling closer to the ground in a car, on foot or on a bike."
