AN INSPIRING schoolgirl from Yate has completed an unusual challenge to travel 100 miles using a combination of different wheels in memory of her great-grandfather.

Ava Osgood, aged 8, began the special fundraiser last month to travel around her local area on various modes of transport including her bike, scooter, or rollerblades.

The fundraiser was in memory of Ava's great-grandfather, Neville Carter, also known as Bamf, who died from cancer at the age of 74 just before Ava was born.1

Ava has now completed the challenge and raised more than £1,000 for Cancer Research UK. Her original goal was £200.

She even reached 12th place for her fundraising efforts on a national leaderboard for the charity.

Ava said: "It's quite exciting.

“I didn't know I was going to be this high up on the leaderboard and surprised that I got this far.

“I was thinking that I was only going to get £200 or less, but when I found out that I had raised a lot more, I was astounded."

Ava’s dad Stewart said: “There's still some time left for people to donate.

“But for her to get anywhere near this amount is a huge accolade for all of our family and friends who wanted to support her on this challenge she set herself.”
