ONE of the driving forces behind Friday's Macmillan Coffee Morning in Yate Library says they were 'overwhelmed by the spirit of the community'.
A Macmillan Coffee Morning was held at Yate Library on Friday, September 29, bringing the community together in support of cancer research.
Organized by Rachel Axford, the morning raised in excess of £460.00 for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.
The event featured a quiz and a performance by the U3A sea shanty group who had attendees tapping their toes and singing along.
The Mayor of Yate, Cheryl Kirby, showed her support for the cause and engaged with attendees and residents.
Rachel Axford, the driving force behind the event, expressed her delight at the tremendous success of the coffee morning.
She said: "I'm truly overwhelmed by the generosity and spirit of our community.
"We came together today not only for a great cup of coffee but also to make a significant impact in the fight against cancer.
"It's heart-warming to see how everyone rallied around this cause, and I'm grateful for the tremendous support we received."
The funds raised will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity dedicated to providing vital support to those affected by cancer, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
Every pound raised will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer.
