YATE TOWN Council marked the International Day of Older Persons today, Thursday.
At the Armadillo Senior Cinema session and at the Pop Inn Café, the council marked this special occasion with lots of cake as a show of appreciation to their older customers for their contributions to our community.
The buzzing café and community cinema were perfect venues to celebrate this important day.
Councillor Wendy Tomasin joined the occasion and cut the cake.
She said: "I am honoured to be asked to help celebrate our older people in our town.
"They contribute so much, in so many ways, to their families, our Yate community and in our society.
"Volunteering is a very rewarding and valuable element of this and we thank you all,"
Yate Town Council says it looks forward to celebrating the IDOP’s in the coming years, and is committed to championing opportunities and enjoyable experiences for Yate residents through its Yate Ageing Better Health and Wellbeing projects.
