A DATE for the return of the much-loved annual Christmas lights switch-on event in Thornbury this year has been confirmed.

Organisers have announced it will take place on Tuesday, November 21

The festive event will take place along the High Street with a community market opening at 5pm and the switch-on taking place at 7pm.

However, a funfair will not take place due to the works on the High Street.

A spokesperson from Thornbury Christmas Lights Association said: “We are delighted to announce we will be hosting our annual switch-on event.

“This will be a welcome return of our event which has been placed on hold since 2019.

“Unfortunately, due to the current position of the works on the High Street and the uncertainty in regards to the timeline of these developments, we will not be able to host a funfair as we have in previous years.

“We cannot wait to return to a switch-on event and bring so much festive cheer to the local community!”
