IN amongst the hustle and bustle of Westminster this week, Yate residents enjoyed an in-depth tour of the Houses of Parliament, in the latest trip organised by the local MP Luke Hall.

The trips, which have welcomed over 3,000 residents to Parliament, are part of an initiative set up by the MP to give local residents the chance to witness first hand the heart of British Democracy.

On the trip, the residents from South Gloucestershire visited both the House of Lords and House of Commons, as well as Westminster Hall and Central Lobby, taking in the breath-taking beauty and history of Parliament.

This was followed by a Q&A in which Mr Hall was asked about his proudest achievements so far as MP, the challenges MPs face, and the priorities facing South Gloucestershire.

He said: “I am so grateful to everyone who came up to Westminster this week, and for the excellent questions and important issues which were raised.

“It is so important to me that everyone has the chance to see for themselves first-hand what MPs are doing up in London each week, on behalf of our communities, and I am looking forward to our next tour with more Yate residents in the next few weeks.”
