A MAJOR blueprint setting out where hundreds of homes in Thornbury and surrounding area could be built has been released.

South Gloucestershire Council has recently published its draft Local Plan which sets out where 20,490 homes should be built up to the year 2040.

The authority has had to find land for more than 9,000 homes that did not already have planning permission or sites allocated to them in previous versions of the housing and jobs blueprint.

It has been revealed locations include several multiple sites in the town as well as neighbouring villages and areas such as Almondsbury, Cromhall, Olveston and Alveston.

Approximately 15 homes will be built at Thornbury Health Centre as part of the project to redevelop the site.

Under the plan, in total 615 homes are due to be built over 15 years of the plan.

People can have their say on the plan from next month following cabinet approval on Monday, November 13.

A nine-week consultation will include material such as interactive maps, which aren’t available on the Local Plan documents just yet.
