MORE DETAILS have been revealed ahead of exciting Christmas events in Yate.
The countdown is on to the launch of Yate Shopping Centre’s Christmas festivities on Saturday, November 25.
The detailed schedule, containing many local acts, has now been released.
The main launch will be totally free and starts at 11am and culminating around 4.30pm when Santa will appear on stage to switch on the Christmas lights.
Andrew Lowrey, Yate Shopping Centre Manager, said: “There’s always a buzz about this very special event and this year will be no exception.
"The spectrum of talent and entertainment is probably our best and most varied yet.
“It’s really non-stop fun and entertainment throughout the day with Santa making an appearance from 4.30pm to flick the switch for the lights before settling down in his Grotto which opens the following day.”
The main entertainment will be on the stage in the Centre Square starting at 11am but there is also a variety of other attractions in the surrounding Walks:
- 11am Street Cred
- 11.30am D-Day Dollies
- Noon Razzamataz
- 12.30 Sodbury Players
- 1.30pm D-Day Dollies
- 2pm Street Cred
- 2.45pm Rock Choir
- 3.30pm Michael Buble Tribute
- 4pm The Sundaes
- 4.20pm Compere James Murden with Characters games and prizes
- 4.45pm Father Christmas to turn on the lights
Meanwhile in North Walk, there will be continuous Character Meet & Greets between 11am – 4pm:
- Bluey & Bingo 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm & 3.30pm
- Stitch & Angel 11.30am, 1pm, 2.30pm
- Elf on The Shelf & Paddington 12pm, 1.30pm & 3pm
And in South Walk, Postman Pat will be helping with Letters to Santa between 11am and 4pm
East Walk will feature a selection of Brass Bands between 10am and 4pm supported by a further variety of entertainment:
- Elton Wrong – Roving Musician appearances 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm & 3.30pm
- Face Painters 11am to 3pm
- Children’s Fair Ground rides 11am to 5pm
Finally, a Balloon Modeller will be moving through the Centre between 11am and 4pm.
The following day, Sunday 26th November, Santa’s grotto will open in the Central Square between 10am and 4pm, and will continue to do so every Saturday and Sunday leading up to Christmas week when it will be open more often, closing at 1pm on Christmas Eve.
A bumper selection of music acts and School choirs will also be performing in the weeks running up to Christmas. Look out for details on our social media platforms.
