A MAN from Yate has been banned from the roads after he was caught while driving over the drug limit.
Simon Purnell, aged 34, of Edgeworth, Yate, admitted drug driving at a hearing at Bristol Magistrates on November 13.
He had 800 micrograms of diazepam and 450 micrograms of benzoylecgonine (metabolite of cocaine) per litre of blood.
The legal limit for diazepam is 550 micrograms while the limit for benzoylecgonine is 50 micrograms.
He was caught while driving a black Ford transit van on Wessex Avenue, Horfield on March 25 this year.
Purnell was banned from driving for 17 months.
He was ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge plus £85 in costs - a total of £199.
He must also complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
