A MAN from Yate has been sentenced after spitting at a police officer and damaging a car.
James Wallis, aged 28, of Dingley Lane, Yate, pleaded guilty to assaulting the officer and damaging the windscreen of a car belonging to a named man.
The incident happened in Victoria Street, Redcliffe, Bristol on December 10 last year.
The case was heard at Bristol Magistrates on November 14.
Wallis was handed a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
He was ordered to pay £700 in compensation, £85 in costs plus a £1 surcharge - a total of £786.
Wallis must complete 100 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
