A NEW supermarket near Wotton is due to finally open after months of delays.

It has been announced the new Co-op store in Charfield will open its doors on Friday, December 1.

The shop in Station Road has created 12 new jobs and will open between 7am to 10pm everyday.

The supermarket has 17 parking spaces and also has an in-store bakery and Ever Ground Fairtrade coffee machine.

The store will operate as a Co-op franchise.

Store manager Bryony Monrowe said: “The store has a great look, and we are really looking forward to welcoming Members and customers into their new Co-op.

“Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently.

“This includes a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, our members, benefit every time they shop.”

The opening comes after months of delays.

Two separate opening dates were previously proposed including one in March 2023, which was later changed to October 2023.

The store is located near the Charfield train station, which was given planning approval by South Gloucestershire Council earlier this year in March.

A full business case and a request for funding is due to be submitted to the West of England Combined Authority and government departments in Summer 2024.
