New Great Western Air Ambulance charity shop in Thornbury

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity has announced it is opening a store in Thornbury High Street on Tuesday, December 12 at 9.30am.

The charity has also recently opened a store in Cinderford and also has shops in Westbury-on-Trym, Yate, Cheltenham, and Gloucester.

GWAAC CEO Anna Perry said in a statement: “Following the recent opening of our Cinderford shop, we’re now pouring efforts into setting up our new Thornbury Shop. 

“All being well, we’ll be opening our doors on December 12. 

“We can’t wait to welcome local people in for some last-minute Christmas gift-buying. 

“In 2022, we helped over five people every week in urgent need of critical care in South Gloucestershire. 

“Every penny spent in our new Thornbury shop will help keep our lifesaving service operational.”

The new Thornbury store will open Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm located at 14 High Street.

It will also house a recycling bank — useful for items that are too tatty for re-selling, and convenient for disposal at the same time as donating to the shop.

The charity provides the critical care and air ambulance service for 2.1 million people across the region including South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset North Somerset, and parts of Wiltshire.

To remain operational it needs to raise over £4 million a year and receives no day-to-day funding from the Government or the National Lottery.

When visiting a GWAAC store this December, shoppers will also have the chance to take part in the Charity’s Winter Raffle with a main prize of £2,500 and plenty of others to play for at just £1.00 per ticket.
