A PASSENGER has died following a crash involving a scaffolding lorry in South Gloucestershire.
The lorry collided with the central reservation on the A4174 and overturned near Mangotsfield at around 5.25pm, yesterday, Tuesday, December 5.
A passenger of the vehicle died at the scene.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident.
A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.
The A4174 was closed between the Dramway and Siston Hill roundabouts while initial enquiries were carried out at the scene.
It is understood the section of the ring road will remain closed until 6am tomorrow, Thursday December 7.
South Gloucestershire Council Street Care team say they need to carry out “extensive repairs” to resurface the carriageway and fix the vehicle restraint barrier.
A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal road traffic collision in South Gloucestershire yesterday.
“Sadly, a passenger of the vehicle died at the scene.
“Their next of kin has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.
“A specially trained officer will provide them with support as we investigate what happened.
“Anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage which could help our investigation is asked to phone 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5223297300.”
