A KEY road in Thornbury will be closed for four days this week as part of 'emergency' repair work.

Grovesend Road will be shut from tomorrow, Monday, December 11 until Thursday, December 14.

According to South Gloucestershire Council’s roadworks website, the closure is for ‘emergency carriageway patching’.

Diversions include using Morton Way, Crossways Road and Knapp Road.

A description for the work from the council's website reads: "Patching takes place to repair the road surface, it involves removing a part of the surface around a pothole and placing a new patch of road surface.”

A spokesperson from South Gloucestershire Council said: “We thank people for their patience while this essential work is carried-out.”

"Services T1 will be diverted via Link Road and Midland Way.

"Regretfully the Bockenem Close bus stop on Avon Way will not be served.

"Passengers are advised to board or alight at either the Dovedale bus stop on Avon Way or the Chiltern Park bus stop on Morton Way."
