A BUSINESS in the area has won a prestigious award.

Quedgeley-based Nutrition X were named Best Sports Nutrition Company of 2023 in the European-wide ESSNA European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance) awards.

This was announced at a ceremony in London last week, where the business was also named runner-up in the best targeted product category.

The prestigious awards, created to celebrate innovation and success in the sports and active nutrition industry, attract entries from the largest players in Europe’s sport supplement market.

This is the second time that the supplement specialists have been awarded top honours by ESSNA, being named Best Sports Nutrition Company of 2021 in the awards two years ago.

James Markey, co-director, said:  “To win any award for a company that we’ve worked so hard to grow from the ground up is a real honour, but to clinch what is arguably the most coveted category in a hotly-competitive, European-wide event is phenomenal.

"It is a true testament to the work that our team here in Gloucestershire has put in to making Nutrition X the brand that it is today.”

Naomi Christiansen, fellow co-director, said: “This year has undoubtedly been our most exciting, and successful, year to date – with numerous product launches helping us stand out ever-further from the competition; most notably a brand-new whey protein ‘shot’ drink, which is already making waves amongst athletes and gym-goers alike.

"What’s most exciting is our continued sustainability journey, having already reduced plastic packaging by up to 80 per cent by moving away from plastic tubs to mono-based material bags for all of our powder-based supplements (ensuring they are 100% recyclable), switching to sustainable FSC certified card for all postal packing and introducing fully electric fleet vehicles.

"We’ve also started our journey towards becoming B-corp certified, so watch this space!”
