Christmas message from Thornbury Town Council

It’s been another very busy year for Thornbury Town Council!

We welcomed many new Councillors following elections in May and said goodbye to some long-standing ones who had given many years of dedicated service to the town.

While continuing to keep our many play areas and open green spaces in excellent order, we made some exciting improvements and additions.

The installation of a new sandpit at the Mundy Playing Fields proved to be very popular and we were very happy to carry out a complete refurbishment of the play area off Eastland Avenue.

We also agreed new maintenance regimes for all the green spaces for which we are responsible, to focus much more on biodiversity and addressing climate change, including the publication of a Local Nature Action Plan.

We were also very happy to support many local organisations this year through our grants scheme.

We look forward to making more changes and improvements to the local area in 2024!

Christmas message from Thornbury mayor Cllr James Murray

What a wonderfully eclectic term so far as Mayor of Thornbury!

It has been really great to be completely immersed in our thriving local community.

Highlights this year include attending Krunch’s 10th anniversary, assisting in the Christmas lights switch on and watching various community arts groups perform.

It was also an incredible honour to be a part of the town’s Remembrance service which was very well attended despite the inclement weather.

I would love to be invited to attend more local events as Mayor.

To request my attendance, please visit our website (tinyurl.com/2ktv7bkt) to download an invitation form.

There is a wonderful festive spirit around Thornbury in the lead up to Christmas, with great excitement for what 2024 will have in store for the town.

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
