A THORNBURY driver who was caught 12 times the limit for cocaine has been banned. 

Michael Smith, aged 31, of Gloucester Road, Grovesend, Thornbury, admitted drug driving and driving without due care and attention at Bristol Magistrates Court on December 21, 2023. 

Smith was caught over the limit for cocaine while driving a Volkswagen Polo on Alveston Hill, Thornbury on April 30, 2023. 

According to the court register, he had 127 micrograms of cocaine in his blood - the legal limit is 10.

Smith was fined £230 and ordered to pay a £114 surcharge plus £85 in costs - a total of £429.

He was banned from driving for 24 months. 

He was also ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
