FLOODING has continued to hit the area this week after Storm Henk. 

Teams from South Gloucestershire Council cleared water and installed sandbags near the North Bristol Food Bank in Station Road, Yate. 

It comes after they received a call for help from food bank worker Karen. 

She said: "I am delighted. Suddenly there was a flurry of activity on site with machinery. 

“I was very pleased the situation was dealt with so effectively.”

Teams also used gully sucking machinery to help manage Slaits Road in Badminton (known as Badminton High Street).

Update on road closures 

  • Stidcot Lane, Tytherington – now open
  • Swan Lane, Winterbourne – remains closed
  • Down Road, Winterbourne – open
  • Slaits Road, Badminton (known as Badminton High Street) – open but with flood signs.

Trains are still being affected between Swindon and Bristol Parkway today due to flooding near Chipping Sodbury.

The line has been flooded for most of the week due to Storm Henk.

Meanwhile, there are still amber flood alerts for Bristol Frome which includes the Chipping Sodbury and Tytherington area.

Gloucestershire County Council say B4058, near Pyke Quarry in Stroud and Bristol Road in Cirencester are both currently closed due to flooding. 

There were also several closures in Gloucester, Forest of Dean and Tewkesbury. 

There are still amber flood alerts for the area including the Rivers Frome and Cam with possible areas affected including - Chalford, Leonard Stanley and Cambridge.
