Flooding of Bath, Swineford, Keynsham and Hanham

The recent rising flood water has affected properties around Swineford and as far afield as Hanham and Keynsham near Bristol.

On the Swineford road going to Bath there has been major flooding to and past the Swan pub being about several inches deep meaning the pub and neighbouring homes and establishments use sandbags to cover the front of homes hoping for no more increase in the water rising.

On the 7th of January 2024 there have been reports that the river Avon being significantly higher than usual has covered the Pultney weir located opposite the Empire Hotel.

On the topic of Bath the number 19 bus from Stoke Gifford to Bath has been diverted at the bottom of the Cherry Garden hill in Bitton along the Bath road through Keynsham to Bath and it is uncertain when normal service will be resumed.

In Keynsham the car park and garden of  Lock Keeper pub has been submerged by river water. Some paths in Keynsham park are underwater.

The questions as to when the High Street in Keynsham and or the A431 (Via Julia Roman road ) through Swineford will be opened is to be decided possibly Monday the 8th of January.
