AN update has been issued by Tesco after its Thornbury supermarket was hit by flooding.

The Thornbury Tesco Superstore officially reopened on Saturday evening, January 6 after it was severely affected by Storm Henk.

The Midland Way store was closed for five days last week after closing on Tuesday, January 2.

It was significantly affected by a power outage caused by “heavy rainfall and localised flooding”.

It is understood the petrol station is still closed, but is due to reopen in the coming days.

A Tesco spokesperson told the Gazette this morning: “Our Thornbury superstore has been open as usual since Saturday evening after recent flooding.”

According to a statement shared on social media by a Thornbury Tesco employee, the store also lost all frozen and fresh stock due to the power outage last week.
