A MAN from the Thornbury area has been jailed after he was caught with an 'offensive weapon'. 

Matt Eastlake, aged 22, of Gloucester Road, Alveston, admitted having a black baton in Hounds Road, Bristol on September 16 last year. 

The case was heard at Bristol Magistrates on Tuesday, January 9. 

Eastlake was jailed for 21 weeks. 

The court register states because the offence is "so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified".
