A MAN has been sentenced after setting a house on fire in Chipping Sodbury.

Shadane Wright, aged 33, pleaded guilty to committing arson at an address in Woodman Close on November 15, last year.

The blaze damaged fixtures and fittings at the property, the court register states.

He also admitted assaulting a female police officer on the same day at the address.

However, Wright, of Spring Street, Bedminster, denied a second count of arson with intent to endanger life and was found not guilty.

The case was heard at Bristol Crown Court on March 15.

Wright received a custodial sentence of 18 months suspended for two years.

He was ordered to stop drinking alcohol for 120 days, take part in mental health treatment for nine months and complete 30 days of rehabilitation activity.
