Police are appealing for information after the death of a motorcyclist in a two-vehicle collision on a rural road in the North East.
A report was received of a crash between a Fiat 500 car and a Yamaha motorbike, on the B1340, near to the small village of Christon Bank, in Northumberland, at 1.20pm today (Saturday April 13).
Emergency services attended the scene, about nine miles north of Alnwick, and despite the efforts of paramedics, the rider of the motorbike, a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead a short time later.
His next of kin have been informed and are said to be receiving support by specialist officers from Northumbria Police.
The female driver of the Fiat suffered minor injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Motor patrol officers have launched a full investigation into the collision.
Sergeant Michael Parnaby, of the force’s Motor Patrols department, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who has sadly died.
“We will offer them any support we can at this extremely difficult time.
“We would ask that anyone with information regarding the collision, or those who saw what happened in the moments leading up to it, to contact us.
