A MAN from the Yate area has been sentenced after attempting to engage in sexual communication with children online.
Mark Downes, aged 56, pleaded guilty to two separate counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with two children under the age of 16.
Downes, of Masons View, Winterbourne, appeared at Bristol Crown Court on May 21.
He was jailed for six months suspended for 12 months.
He was ordered to take part in 60 days of rehabilitation activity and register with Bridewell Police Station in Bristol for seven years.
He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £128.
