TWO 50p coins described as ‘extremely rare’ are being sold in Cirencester.
The coins, which depict King Charles III, are being sold via online sales platform eBay for £1,800 and £999 respectively (or best offers).
Both coins are said to date from 2022 - the year when Queen Elizabeth II died and Charles became King.
His coronation took place the following year on May 6, 2023.
“The denomination of the coin is 50p and it is a part of the decimal coinage series that began in 1971,” the description of the £1,800 coin reads.
“This coin is a great addition to any collection, not only for its rarity but also for its historical significance.
“It is a perfect way to commemorate the reign of King Charles III and the history of Great Britain.”
However, the description incorrectly claims that King Charles III reigned in the 1400s and 1500s.
The description of the £999 coin reads: “This King Charles III 50p coin is an absolute must-have for any serious collector of British decimal coins.
“With its stunning design and rare status, this coin is sure to be a prized possession for years to come.
“Made in Great Britain and issued in 2022, this coin features the denomination 50p and is part of the British coin series.
