A MAN has been arrested after a cyclist died following a crash on a key road near Thornbury.
The collision happened on the B4461 Aust Road, Aust - not far from the M48 Severn Bridge - at 12.36pm yesterday, Sunday, June 29.
A grey Mercedes and a cyclist were involved in the crash.
The cyclist - a man in his fifties - died at the scene, despite efforts from the ambulance service.
Their next of kin have been informed.
A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while over the prescribed limit for drugs.
He was later released under investigation, Avon and Somerset Police say.
The road was closed until 8.30pm while collision investigators examined the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “Their next of kin have been informed and will be supported by a family liaison officer.
“Our thoughts are with them.
“We are appealing for witnesses and any CCTV or journey-cam footage following the fatal collision at Aust.
