MOST households across South Gloucestershire will have new bin collection days starting next week.

The changes, effective from Monday August 4, will see new black bin and recycling collection days for around 85 per cent of residents.

Recycling and food bins will still be collected weekly, and black bins will be picked up every two weeks.

However, some residents might find their green waste collected on a different day than their black bin.

South Gloucestershire Council claims these changes will make collection routes more efficient, providing "better value for money."

These changes are part of a new contract with SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK.

A council spokesperson said: "Your bin day is changing.

"From August 4, your black bin and recycling will likely be on a new day.

"You might also have an extra bin collection over the next two weeks."

Meanwhile, plans for new three-weekly black bin collections in South Gloucestershire are due to be introduced next year.
